In 1995, Shorn L. Scott took the first step in founding Universal Maintenance, a family owned business in Freeport, Grand Bahama specializing in electrical technology. Running a successful business takes hard work, and for Scott, it was an even bigger challenge. Due to a traumatic experience which left his lower body paralyzed in 1998, Scott resigned from his former job at the Ministry of Health, and threw himself full time into the business, determined to make a name for himself. With a firm mindset in creating a stable income, he then added auto repair and sales to the company’s portfolio.

 

Before long, Scott’s work in auto mechanics became well renowned and though he never learned to love his work, he established himself as one of the best on the island, ensuring quality service and strong business relationships, thus earning lifelong clients and constant new ones.

 

Sixteen years of hard work later, Universal Maintenance was incorporated, resulting in a wider range of services that put the company on the map. Scott devoted his time and energy to promoting the additional services to the general public which was widely accepted, as the island was experiencing a low ebb in the business sector. Universal Maintenance Ltd., having expanded its portfolio further by offering Import/Export services as well as sales and repairs of ALL general goods, became a life buoy to the island, quickly gaining recognition and traffic.

 

As the company continues to thrive, meaning to serve the public at an international level, the founder and his team plan to constantly improve their products and services, firmly believing in their motto, “DOING ORDINARY EXTRAORDINARILY WELL”.
